Ever wanted to visit Africa? Have you seen the Watoto Children’s Choir in concert and thought, ‘I would love to visit Uganda?’ If so, now is your chance!
TEAR Fund is pleased to be partnering with Break Free Expeditions, helping Kiwis fulfil their dream of volunteering at Watoto.
In January 2011, you are invited to join a team from New Zealand, to visit Watoto Children's Village to take part in a building programme and to help out at the Bulrushes Babies Home. The best thing is no prior building experience is required! There will also be the opportunity to visit one of TEAR Fund's projects near Kampala to see first hand where child sponsorship money goes, as well as see a little of Africa on a short safari (additional cost). During your stay in Uganda you will:
1. Help build a classroom at the village for orphans of HIV and war
2. Experience Watoto Village life first hand
3. Volunteer at the Bulrushes Babies Home
4. Assist with other infrastructure projects as required (eg digging drains etc)
5. Visit local Ugandan Tear Fund projects
6. Optional activities (additional cost) include a wildlife safari, white water rafting the Nile and fishing on Lake Victoria.
2011 Trip Dates:
Trip Departure: January 1, 2011
Trip duration: 21 days
Trip Cost: $7,200 includes airfares, accommodation in Uganda, most catering, ground transportation and $1,000 contribution to building materials.
