Hannah Donald is definitely one of ’s most promising up and coming singer/songwriters. Her debut album “Unfinished Journey’ is a collection of beautiful melodies and heartfelt emotion that any songwriter would be proud to call their own. No wonder she has just been nominated for a New Zealand Music Award!! A wonderful person to work with – dedicated and engaging – Hannah spent several months working with street children in and is passionate about serving the poor and disadvantaged. We are thrilled to be associated with Hannah and heartily recommend her.
Derek Lind must be considered as an elder statesman of New Zealand Christian music. Arguably one of NZ’s most accomplished guitarists, Derek’s reputation as a musican and songwriter sits comfortably alongside artists including Dave Dobbyn, Neil Finn, and Don McGlashan. A shrewd and procative lyrcist, Derek’s music hits home with both a Christian and secular audience. If you have never heard Derek Lind in concert then you have not lived! Zebulun Big energy! Big hooks! Big guitar! Zebulun – a great bunch of West Auckland boys – is a fantastic, hard rocking band, who we love! With a sound not dissimilar to Blindspott and Shihad, Zebulun have found a host of fans at the Parachute Music Festival, Christian surfers and at Easter camps around the country. Not only do they do a great electric show – high volume and high energy – but Zebulun also are available for more laid back acoustic concerts that are more ‘friendly to the ears’ for the older audience.
Hailing from Gisborne, Tim, a graduate of the Bible College of New Zealand, continues ’s fine reputation for producing exceptional singer/songwriters. A classically trained guitarist with a passion for the poor, Luke is a committed supporter of TEAR Fund and a talented singer/songwriter. His music has a folk/blues flavour and his writing is influenced by the year he spent living in the Slums of Manila in the where his parents served as missionaries.
Chris has the reputation for being ’s leading saxophonist; a title he well and truly deserves. Chris and his band are one of ’s best jazz outfits with a range of music that appeals to both young and old. Chris is also a spokesperson for “Make Poverty History” and is available for church services, café nights and other special events.
Kristy is 21 years old and currently studying social work at the University of Otago in Dunedin . Her style is suitable for all ages, but she especially enjoys singing and playing the slower styles, like ballads, but classifies her music as acoustic pop rock. She performs original songs as well as covers. She prefers performing songs that have depth and meaning, songs about real issues.
One of the song writing minds behind the popular band 'Somebody's Cousin', Malcolm Gordon also wrote and directed his first musical mid 2006, 'Tonight we learn to dance.' With 'Somebody's Cousin' finishing up last year, Malcolm has moved away from the huge pop/rock sounds of the band and recorded the simplistic acoustic album 'As I am'. Through all these stages of musical development, Malcolm's commitment to the work of Tear Fund has been constant. Having travelled to the in 2005, he has seen firsthand the effect Tear Fund sponsored programmes are having in people's lives.
Raised in Invercargill, but infinitely more comfortable in Dunedin , Jeremy likes good guitars, good books and good company. An evening with Jeremy would involve a combination of song, poetry, and story-telling. Jeremy's acoustic blend of personal exploration, social commentary and dry understatement may be right up your alley. |
