Hundreds of thousands of displaced people need help as the conflict in Lebanon and Gaza continues to escalate.

  The death toll in this humanitarian crisis is mounting as communities are destroyed, hospitals and homes are damaged, food and water run out, and families flee their homes in search of safety.

Tearfund is responding through local Christian partners to meet the urgent needs of people impacted by the worsening conflict. In Lebanon, our partner is on the ground distributing mattresses and blankets to those who have had to flee their homes and providing healthcare support. In Gaza, our other partner remains the only fully functioning hospital in the north, providing vital medical assistance to the sick and wounded.

What is happening and how are people affected?

  • In Lebanon, hundreds of thousands of people have been newly displaced in recent weeks. Nearly 40,000 are sheltering in 282 sites. 
     
  • Thousands of people have lost their lives, and many more are injured.
     
  • Over the last year an estimated 9 out of 10 people, a total of 1.9million people, are displaced in Gaza with limited access to food, water and shelter. 
     
  • The healthcare system faces unprecedented challenges. 84% of the health facilities in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed and those operating are struggling to function with shortages in essential medicines, basic equipment, electricity and staff. Our partner is the only hospital fully functioning in the north of Gaza.
