Sponsorship helped Ariane overcome poverty

A former sponsored child, Ariane Sagusara-Mapula, grew up in a family that faced many challenges. Her parents were separated and her mother had health-related disabilities. But today, thanks to sponsorship and determination, she has graduated with a university degree and lives in New Zealand.

Ten photos that bring to life our Empowher women's events

Tearfund hosted two Empowher women's events, one at Eastgate Christian Centre and one at The Upper Room. The events were a great opportunity to bring women together, be encouraged and do something powerful in the lives of mothers and babies in Indonesia through our new Mums and Bubs project. Take a look at ten photos that bring to life the events!

Empowher Central:

During the evening there were three powerful short talks from unique female voices, media personality Petra Bagust, sex and relationship therapist Jo Robertson and pastor at the Upper Room Church Pip Smyth. There were giveaways, delicious treats, a dessert platter and a Q & A after every talk for any questions the ladies had.

Empowher East:

Tearfund was proud to partner with Eastgate Christian Centre for a fabulous evening of mingling, sweet treats, giveaways and two powerful short talks from sex and relationship therapist Jo Robertson and Tearfund's Kelly Burgess. The night ended with a clothes swap!
