What is Lent?

As the Body of Christ across the world prepares for Easter, many Christian traditions refer to the 40-day period before Easter Sunday as Lent. Together we intentionally prepare ourselves to reflect on the death of Christ and celebrate his resurrection. We join believers who, for over a millennium, have paused in various forms over this season to seek ways to live more like Christ.

Together let’s enter this season of Lent reflectively, open to what God may invite us to.

A bit more about us:

How can we hold onto hope when facing despair and challenges?

At Tearfund, we work in some of the world’s toughest places, where despair often feels overwhelming. We believe the Bible offers profound answers—and that God calls us to bring hope to vulnerable people.

For 50 years, we’ve been helping maginalised communities around the world break the cycle of poverty and walk into a brighter future. Together with our partners we’re sharing the transformational hope found in Christ by helping people to lift themselves out of poverty.
