Give through Payroll giving – make a lasting impact

Join us transforming lives through Payroll giving

Payroll Giving is a simple, tax-smart way to make a meaningful impact. Your planned generosity helps Tearfund empower communities, fight injustice, and restore hope to marginalised communities around the world. You can read more about Tearfund’s work here.

For employees

Payroll giving is a straightforward process that’s organised through your workplace's payroll team. You just let them know how much and how often you want to donate to Tearfund, then they arrange for your chosen donation to be deducted from your pay as you have directed and transferred to Tearfund.

This way, you don't need to wait until the end of the tax year to claim the tax credit or refund. You'll receive an immediate tax credit for each payroll giving donation, reducing the total PAYE amounts payable each time. Tax credits are calculated at 33.33 cents for each dollar donated.

We hope you’ll choose Tearfund as your charity of choice, and don’t forget to encourage your colleagues to do the same.

You could also ask your workplace if they would match any staff donations dollar-for-dollar.

Visit the IRD's Payroll giving as an employee page to find out more.

Ask your payroll team if your business has a payroll giving scheme in place. If you will be their first to give in this way, please contact us to see how we can help set this up in your workplace. If payroll giving is not possible for you, there are many other ways you can support Tearfund’s work.

If your employer uses iPayroll then you can start your contributions to Tearfund today!

For employers

Payroll giving is a simple and effective way for your employees to make regular donations to support communities around the world - straight from their salary, before tax is deducted.

It’s easy for employers to set up and it has both tax and administrative benefits. By donating directly through the payroll system, your employees get the tax benefit straight away, rather than applying to the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) at the end of the year.

Your business may like to offer encouragement to your staff and show its support for heart research by matching donations dollar- for-dollar.

Visit the IRD's payroll giving page or download the Payroll Giving Guide (IR617) (PDF) to find out how your workplace can set-up a payroll giving scheme.
